28 May 2010 SportPark at Loughborough University
On your marks...

One of the hardest jobs in SportPark belongs to the sports and social group who have the not so envious task of getting everybody based in the building active and happy!

They need you to help them with this by completing the attached survey.

Once the survey results have been collated the group will be able to get to grips with meeting some of your sport and social needs, so have your say now, lie back and wait for action!

Get set…

At long last we have all the necessary permissions to complete our outdoor sports provision at SportPark. Work will commence on the 6th June and will see the installation of our 800m perimeter running track and training buddies (sexy exercise stations) and the all weather pitch in the grounds at the back of pavilions one and two.

Go...

When ready the sports and social group will be organising a range of participation opportunities using these new facilities.

Did you know Tai Chi is available in the Pilkington library? Weekly Gentle Exercise Session, Tuesdays 8th June – 7th September 10am, Tai Chi with tea and coffee Cost £2.

Our running group goes from strength to strength, why not join them…every Tuesday and Thursday, meet 12.30 in reception.

A wider program of exercise classes are available here.

Indoor market at SportPark

Monday 14th June promises to be a busy day at SportPark with our first ever market day with over 30 stalls to visit.

All SportPark workers will be receiving a personal invite.

Please can we urge you to make a special effort to visit the market as there is definitely something for everyone and a lot of effort is going into making it worthwhile.

The market is open throughout the ground floor from 9.30 to 2.30 and, for the super observant, it is definitely being held on the 14th June!

Welcome to SportPark

Latest arrival to our happy home is Julie Clark and Pete Goodings from Squash and Racketball who are now occupying the small office in pavilion two on the third floor.

The East Midlands Regional Office will be co-ordinating all ESR activity within the East Midlands, it will be the centre point for enquiries and will be pro-actively working with external partners to strengthen relationships. By basing themselves at SportPark they have certainly got themselves at the hear of the action

Next week see’s the arrival of Sean Holt and his ISRM team. They will be living next door to Julie and Pete on the third floor of pavilion two, and very smart their new offices are looking too.

We are also excited to announce the arrival of Sport England who have now committed to moving into SportPark.

This is a particularly exciting development as many of the resident bodies at SportPark benefit from Sport England funding both directly and indirectly.

Sport England will be moving into the first floor space in pavilion two. It's hoped bringing them on site will significantly enhance communication and create new opportunities for collaboration and coordination between tenants and Sport England.

They are due to arrive in September.  Full details of staff relocating here are still to be finalised but Sport England have confirmed their Grants Shared Service Centre will be moving in. They look after all of the grants administration work for Sport England and handle all grant enquiries.

Holding Court at SportPark

On the evening of Wednesday 9th June Loughborough University will be holding its inaugural meeting of the new University Court here at SportPark.

As a landmark building and the national hub for sports development, SportPark was seen as the natural choice for the University to launch its new University Court.

Entitled ‘Making a Difference’ the event will highlight to key stakeholders of the University, the benefits its activities have to society. It will showcase the University’s world leading research work, highlight some recent successes and share something of its future plans.
