The finishing touches...

We are now adding the finishing touches to SportPark and this newsletter seeks to inform you of progress on building works and seeks your cooperation in making SportPark the special place we all know it is...

Works update

Work is commencing today to complete the construction of the Activity Lawn and Energy Track.

First phase will be in the landscaped area to the rear of SportPark which should be complete by mid July. We can then start playing sport on the Activity Lawn!

Thereafter activity moves to the far end of the car park to construct the linear route of the track running parallel to the car park . All work should be complete by early August and will include the installation of training buddies, our personalisd exercise stations.

Unfortunately we are having to fence off the front of the building whilst maintaining access to the building, to provide a secure access for the plant. Plant crossing the main entrance is to be permanently managed by a banksman.

Both the building fascia and hard landscaping is to be protected.

Work to plasma screens for the reception area will also be completed shortly.

Heating, Lighting & Ventilation feedback

Its now 6 months since our first tenants moved in and we really need to know your experiences so far on the heating, lighting and ventilation systems within SportPark.

Please submit any feedback, good or bad, by downloading the form here and returning to M.V.Channell@lboro.ac.uk

Don't be blind...

We are currently investigating random alarm activation and the effects on the night time cooling regime, in both instances, the newly installed blinds potentially being the source of the problem.

In warm weather the concrete mass absorbs the heat and during the night, when the high level windows auto open, this allows cross flow of air to cool the ceiling down ready for the next day.

We believe that the movement of the blinds may be setting off the intruder alarm, as well as affecting cross flow ventilation to cool the building.

We are, therefore, requesting all staff at SportPark take responsibility for ensuring all blinds in  your respective areas are pulled up at the end of the day. Over the coming month we will then be able to monitor the effects and hopefully resolve all issues.

Yoga class

Just a reminder that we now have a weekly yoga class taking place every Thursday from 12-1pm in the building.

For more details please ask at reception.

Link Hotel revamp

Refurbishment work has now started at The Link Hotel, where over the coming months you will see a full refurbishment of all bedrooms, reception, lounge, restaurant and meeting facilities.

The pilot room is now complete (see photo) and work will continue throughout the summer.

The Link will close on 1st August 2010 to allow for the front of house works to take place, reopening on 10th September 2010 with full completion scheduled for early October. If you would like any more information on the refurbishment go to http://www.linkhotelloughborough.co.uk/refurbishment-2010/

The Link is now run and managed by imago alongside their other venues, Burleigh Court Conference Centre and Hotel, Holywell Park Day Conference Centre and Loughborough University Campus.

Competitive rate packages are available for SportPark partner organisations, with rooms starting at £40 with multiple occupancy opportunities making the per head price very competitive.
